APPLYING FOR VIETNAM ENTRY VISA FOR FOREIGERS

1. Cases where entry visa is not required

Foreigners with one of the following valid Vietnam entry documents do not need to apply for an entry permit:

• Have a valid multiple entry Vietnam visa.

• Have a valid Vietnam temporary residence card.

• Have a valid permanent resident card.

• Have a valid 5-year visa exemption certificate.

• Visa-free entry (Unilateral or bilateral visa exemption such as Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia).

• Entry with APEC card

• Unilateral or bilateral visa exemption

• Vietnam Electronic Visa (Evisa)

Other cases include: foreigners who do not have one of the valid Vietnam entry documents (mentioned above), are not exempt from Vietnam visa and are not eligible for Vietnam evisa will have to apply for an entry letter to get a Vietnam visa.

2. Conditions for being granted an entry visa to Vietnam

Foreigners cannot apply for an entry permit to Vietnam on their own but must be sponsored and supported by a legally qualified organization or individual for entry.

• Have a Vietnamese organization (company) or individual as a sponsor.

The organization can be: Vietnamese company, foreign invested company, 100% foreign owned company, representative office of foreign trader... All must be established and operating legally in Vietnam.

The sponsor must be a relative: father, mother, wife, husband, child. The sponsor must have full civil capacity and responsibility.

• Not on the blacklist , meaning the subject has committed one of the following errors:

  • Forging documents, making false statements to obtain valid documents for entry, exit, or residence.

  • People with mental illness or infectious diseases that pose a danger to public health.

  • Deported from Vietnam and the deportation decision is still in effect.

  • For reasons of national defense, security, order and social safety.

3. Application for Vietnam entry permit

For each subject applying for an entry permit for different purposes, the documents will be different.

3.1 Application for entry permit for business and work purposes

• Notarized copy of Business Registration Certificate

• Sample of Entry Application Form for Foreigners (Form NA2)

• Sample form for introducing the signature and seal of the guarantee company (Form NA16)

• Copy of Foreigner's Passport (Copy)

• Letter of introduction for the applicant

• Other documents as required.

3.2 Application for entry permit for visiting relatives

• Notarized copy of Business Registration Certificate

1. Procedures for applying for an entry visa to Vietnam

Currently, the entire process and procedures for applying for an entry visa to Vietnam must be done online through the following steps:

Step 1: Register an electronic account for your company or organization at the Public Service Portal

Step 2: Submit application for entry permit online

After the electronic account has been approved by the Immigration Department, you can carry out the procedures for sponsoring an online entry permit for foreigners with the following procedures:

• Log in to dichvucong.bocongan.gov.vn Public services of the Ministry of Public Security, select the category Submit application online.

• Find the procedure : Review foreign personnel, then submit the application according to the instructions.

• Fill in all information fields in Form NA2 Online and attach required documents.

• Sign the required electronic signature and complete the online procedures.

Step  3: Receive the results of the entry visa online

During the process of reviewing the sponsorship application for an online entry permit for foreigners, if additional or adjusted documents are needed, the system will notify the applicant to promptly update the documents according to regulations.
